The Beginning | Life as a Chief in Clash of Clans

I clicked the game’s icon for the first time. The developer’s name flashed for a second and the game loaded into beautiful splash screen with intro music blasting into my ears. When it finished loading, I realised I was not in my room. I was inside the game.

They took me to a barren village and made me their Chief.

‘Build the village and protect it,’ I was told. I promised I would to do my best.
It didn’t take me long to realise that the land was magical, that I had magic in me. Two builders came out to help me. ‘We will build everything you want. Guide us, Chief,’ they said. I instructed one to build our first line of defence and other to construct me a barrack where I could train villagers into an army.

I watched them thumping their hammers in empty air and wondered what they were doing. Solid matter started appearing out of nowhere in the area that they were hammering. My builders were magical too. A few minutes later they were done. A tiny cannon was built by first builder and the other built me a garage like house. I was about to praise them when I heard some evil laughs from the adjacent forest.

My builders immediately started running towards the Town Hall. They shouted at me to come with them. I couldn’t figure out what was happening so I followed them. Every other villager rushed inside too. The insides of the main building of my village, the Town Hall were fantastico. But I wasn’t in a mood to appreciate beautiful interior designs. I looked out of a window in the direction of the evil laughs.

Five green creatures with long and pointy ears were running towards the border of my village. They kept laughing as they ran. There was certain greediness in their laughter. ‘They are the Goblins; they steal our gold and elixir,’ someone near told me. The goblins were heading towards the town hall. I freaked out.

‘We have to do something,’ I told in general.

‘We already did,’ one of my builders told me and smirked. He was the one who had built the cannon.

When the green goblins were just near the Town Hall, I saw the air around the cannon simmer. I understood the goblins were now inside the cannon’s range. Within a blink of an eye, the magical cannon fired. THUP! A big stone ejected from it and hit the goblin on the front. He evaporated into emptiness and the villagers around me started cheering. One by one, the canon took out all the goblins.

‘That was easy,’ I sighed.

‘Not as much as you think,’ a beautiful lady with brown hair came up to me and said.

‘Why?’ I asked.

‘They will come back again and in more numbers than today,’

‘We will kill them again,’

‘One canon won’t be always enough,’

‘We will build more,’

‘We don’t have enough gold to build more,’

‘What is your name lady and who are you?’

‘I am your minister,’ She smiled at me. ‘Call me Katriona. Come with me, I will explain everything to you,’

And then she walked away. I stared a while at her wavy brown hair and ran towards her.
