An Indian cricket legend, the campaign for the unveiling of the Ek Nayi League is turning out as very popular. People from all over India are playing this guessing game about what the league is about. A prize of 1 lakh rupees is also there to lure people into participating in it.
It is the first time I have seen such a mysterious event getting so much popularity. The credit obviously goes to the star Kapil Dev, who has been launching various teaser videos in his twitter feed and YouTube. Guessing what the league is about is not a easy thing. Since the teasers offers very less information. But I believe that whatever it will be, it will be pure entertainment. I speculate that Ek Nayi League will be some kind of a online entertainment show. With the IPL already going on, I don't see another league tournament being organised. Which means that Ek Nayi League might not be related to cricket at all. Also the fact that Kapil has been asking people to not 'play with your heart' makes me wonder if this thing is even related to any kind of real sports. Because as per as I know, every sport is meant to played from your heart.
Also, I haven't seen any kind of advertising on television about the Ek Nayi League, which also further strengthen my view about it being something that will totally occur online. It probably will not be a major event and will not be a million dollar franchise. With the whole country being pulled into the mystery and such a different kind of promotion, this I believe, will be a game-changer in the Indian entertainment industry. Even if it turns out that I am wrong and Ek Nayi League is indeed related to cricket, it has to a be a different kind of cricket. India has seen some weird league matches, the one played by television celebrities was one such kind. Ek Nayi League will have to be a unique thing.
